The Outdoor Explorer Box - Cheese and Beer!
For hikers, climbers, wanderers and anyone who believes snacks make the summit. This box is packed with flavours built for the trail — cheeses that travel like champs, beers in tins that can be crushed and carried home, and everything designed for maximum enjoyment in the great outdoors.
Trail-Ready Cheeses
We’ve chosen two cheeses that are naturally durable, low-moisture, pack-friendly and absolutely delicious — perfect for stuffing into a backpack, slicing on a ridge line, or enjoying beside a campfire.
• Yorkshire Gouda
Firm, nutty, caramel-tinged, and practically indestructible. With low moisture and a hard texture, it’s a classic travel cheese used by walkers and mountaineers for centuries. It doesn’t need refrigeration on shorter hikes and gets even better as it warms up in your pack.
• Yorkshire Summerfield
A true Yorkshire mountain cheese with Swiss-inspired soul. Summer Field Alpine is only made when the Botton Village cows are out grazing the summer pastures — which means it’s rare, seasonal, and absolutely loaded with flavour. Expect complex sweetness, gentle nuttiness and that supple, Gruyère-like depth you get from great Alpine cheeses.
Beers
Because the best views deserve a celebratory sip — and tins mean you can drink responsibly, crush them down and carry them back without adding weight.
• Weekend Project “With Socks” – DDH Bright Ale – 5.4% ABV
Refreshing, citrusy, and just punchy enough to feel like a reward after a long climb. The sort of beer you crack open at the trig point and instantly feel like you’ve achieved something heroic. (please make it back down safely…)
• Trig Brewery “Aretes” – West Coast IPA – 5.5% ABV
Bold pine, bright bitterness, proper trail personality. A beer built for people who look at a contour line and think “challenge accepted.” Balanced and crisp, perfect beside a slab of Alpine cheese.
Why Cheese Is the Ultimate Travel Companion
Cheese is basically the original adventure fuel — portable, nutrient-dense, high in fat and protein, satisfying, and capable of surviving a weekend in a rucksack without drama. Mountaineers, shepherds, travellers and explorers have carried it for centuries because it’s reliable, delicious, and needs nothing but a pocketknife to become a feast.
It doesn’t get more “outdoors-proof” than that.
