About the Brewery
Bullhouse Brew Co began life on a farm outside Belfast and has grown into one of Northern Ireland’s most exciting independent breweries. Known for flavour-forward beer and a refusal to be pigeonholed, Bullhouse makes everything from bright modern pales to gloriously uncompromising dark beer.
El Capitan is one of its originals—and there’s a reason it refuses to disappear.
WHAT CHEESES THO?
Big stout requires cheese with backbone.
Mature Cheddar – Pitchfork, Isle of Mull or Westcombe. Roast, caramel and sharp Cheddar are an elite combination.
Blue cheese – Stilton, Young Buck or Cropwell Bishop. Salt and savoury depth meet dark chocolate magnificently.
Aged hard cheese – Cornish Kern or Lincolnshire Poacher can comfortably handle the beer’s weight and intensity.
Smoked cheese – Smoke, coffee and roasted malt create some serious fireside drama.
Why IS THIS BEER IN THE RIOT?
Basically, I’m obsessed with this stout, and that’s why it’s here! It’s deep, warming and unapologetically, well, stouty. No novelty ingredients, just six malts doing dark and delicious things.
